About Strategic Preppers
We publish practical preparedness guidance for ordinary households - the kind of advice that helps when the power is out, the water is unsafe, or the roads are closed.
Why we started
Most preparedness content on the internet is written to sell something, and it shows. It starts from a collapse fantasy, escalates the fear, and arrives at a shopping cart. Meanwhile the actual emergencies that reach ordinary families - an ice storm, a multi-day outage, a boil-water advisory, a wildfire-smoke week, a flooded basement - get comparatively little practical attention.
We wanted the opposite: the calm, specific, slightly boring information that actually changes how a household weathers a bad week.
How we work
- Plan first, shopping list second. A written family plan, an agreed meeting place and a way to hear official information cost nothing and outperform almost anything you can buy.
- Official guidance over folklore. Where national or provincial emergency authorities publish recommendations, we follow them and point you there.
- We name the cheap option. If a basic torch and a hand-crank radio are sufficient, we say so rather than steering you to the premium model.
- We say what we don't know. Our gear guides are based on published specifications and category experience, not on laboratory testing. We do not claim test results we don't have.
- We correct things. If guidance changes or something we wrote turns out to be wrong, we update the page.
What we won't do
- Sell fear, or imply that societal collapse is imminent.
- Publish invented statistics or present opinion as research.
- Push tactical or military equipment on families who need a household plan.
- Recommend gear we wouldn't keep in our own homes.
How the site is funded
Through affiliate links. When you buy a product through a link on one of our gear guides, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we recommend - the picks are chosen on merit, and we list the budget option as readily as the premium one. Outbound affiliate links are clearly labelled and marked rel="sponsored".
We also collect email addresses when you download the free guide, and we may occasionally include a sponsor in our newsletter. We do not sell or share your address. See our affiliate disclosure and privacy policy.
Important limits
Everything on this site is general information for educational purposes. It is not medical, legal, engineering or professional safety advice, and it cannot account for your specific circumstances. Emergency procedures, alert systems and emergency numbers vary by country and region - always follow the instructions of your local authorities and emergency services, and consult a qualified professional where the stakes are high.
